How motor bike gear work?
Now a days motor bike is very good option to travel. We also go for long rides to enjoy, and during ride we shift the gears more than thousands of times for pickup, speed and load purposes. But had you ever think how gear is work and how it increases the speed of vehicle. You should know the basics principles of gear. This will be very useful information. First we will discuss why gear is provided and then how gear is work.
What is gear:-
Gear is an assembly which act as an intermediate between engine and wheels to provide the different speed and torque as required.
Why gear is used:-
When you start the engine it started rotating depending up on throttle(accelerator). But at initial when you start your motor bike. motor bike required the more pick up means in term of technical language it required more torque and speed should be minimum, So 1st gear will give you high torque low speed. As gear shifted up torque will reduce and speed will increase. So because of gear all the engine energy get utilized properly.
Vehicle have the constant amount of power in our motor bike but gear utilized this energy in proper way of speed and torque.
As while starting motor bike we required minimum speed and high torque. And as we shift gear up speed will increase and torque will decrease because now vehicle don't need more pickup.
As while starting motor bike we required minimum speed and high torque. And as we shift gear up speed will increase and torque will decrease because now vehicle don't need more pickup.
Some principles of speed and torque:-
As vehicle have constant amount of power and gear play an important role to divide the power in torque and RPM (Revolution per minute), here you can consider RPM is nothing but the speed.
RPM is defined as number of revolution done by any wheel in minute.
As wheel rotate definitely it travel the some distance so distance travel in specific time is called as speed. so we can consider RPM as speed.
Speed =Distance Travel /Time.
From above statement we can conclude that, time is inversely proportional to speed as time increase speed decreases.
Power is nothing but speed * torque.
Power = RPM (Speed) *Torque
So we can also write RPM (Speed) =Power/Torque
From above statement we can conclude that, speed is also inversely proportional to torque. As speed decreases torque increased and you will get more torque at first gear and less speed. And finally we can conclude that as time decreases speed increases and torque decreases.
How gear work:-
Gear box contains the different sizes of wheels to connect the wheel and engine. When you shift to 1st gear chain connecting wheel and gear shifted to gear which have big in size. As you shift gear up chain will shift to less diameter gear compare to previous one, So it will take less time to complete one revolution with self.
As diameter of gear is small, it required less time to complete one revolution around self. And as time decreases speed increases and as speed increases torque decreases . As we shift the gear up torque is get decreed and speed will increased relatively. At top most gear we get more speed and minimum torque.
